Forget Sturridge – Liverpool can complete ace deal this summer, player want move

In the wake of Arsenal failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League competition, as host of players are being linked with the exit door at The Emirates stadium.

The 23-year-old midfielder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ready to join Liverpool, but Arsenal are playing hardball for a player who has just a year left on his current deal.

The Sun reports that Liverpool may be willing to pay up to £20m for the England international, but The Gunners are holding out for close to £35m.

The versatile player, who has been at Arsenal for the past six years has struggled for regular playing time under Wenger earlier in the campaign, but a change in formation by the Frenchman has seen him come into the team more in the last few months.

Jurgen Klopp is looking at strengthening his squad for the Champions League next season and has identified the former Southampton man as a valuable squad player, who could well make the leap into the first team without struggling.

The contract wranglings between player and club means that there is every possibility that the player could depart the north London outfit this summer, but Arsenal will be reluctant to sell to another Premier League rival.

Chamberlain is a fast attacking player who can play as a central midfielder, a winger and a wing back who has earned praise for his pace and creative abilities. He has scored six times and created a further 11 in 44 matches this season, in 26 starts.
