Liverpool reject third bid for forgotten defender

According to Sky News, the transfer of the forgotten defender Mamadou Sakho, is not happening anymore. Liverpool has rejected Crystal Palace’s third offer of the summer for the 27-year old defender.

Sakho enjoyed a successful loan spell last season at Selhurst Park and are keen to return. He became a key player in Sam Allardyce’s team in the fight against relegation. However, Liverpool standing firm on a £30m valuation.

The Merseyside club has rejected Crystal Palace’s bid of an initial £22m with a further £3m in add-ons. They are hoping to receive the full amount as both West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City have shown interest in the Sakho.

The French defender has not played for Liverpool since becoming suspended by UEFA on false grounds having been wrongly informed he had taken an illegal substance in 2016.

He missed out on the Europa League Final in Basel the same year. As well as the European Championships before being allowed to return to English football a year ago.

As late as yesterday it was reported by both Mail Online and The Guardian that a deal was very close, and the only thing missing was a medical.
