Forget Giroud: Arsenal edging close to signing of 36 goals hitman, source confirms move possibility

Last season was a super B season for Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanhcez. The Chile international featured as a top striker for Arsenal in majority of the matches he featured for the North London outfit last season.

Sanchez, 28, bagged in addition 24 goals in 38 appearances last term, as his dazzling footwork saw Olivier Giroud getting limited to the bench and coming in as a substitute he majority of the games he featured in.

Due to this reason, Giroud might have continue his career elsewhere, which means manager Arsene Wenger will have to search for a striker to come fill the void that will be left by.

In the light of this, Arsenal has heavily been link with a move to sign Lyon highly-rated striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The France international has been a key target of Atletico Madrid this summer, but a move was played down after the La Liga giant were banned from signing any new player until January.

This law from the Court of Arbitration for Sport made the move to Atletico Madrid impossible, with some other reports claiming he may have to stay in France for another additional season.

It thought that they are some other club showing a keen interest in landing him, with Liverpool and Arsenal also keeping a close eye on his performance.

Lyon president Michel Aulas has traveled to London to go discuss with Arsenal have a possible move for 36 goals in 44 games striker.

But speaking in an interview on Friday, Lyon’s president made it known that a firm offer had been received for Lacazette. He said as quoted by Football.london:

“Alexandre was told he could leave and we had negotiations with Atletico. Things did not work out.

“I don’t have any offers right now. I don’t know if he wants to leave.”

Another report further reckon that Arsenal are in the driver seat for Lacazette deal this summer, so it yet to be seen who will lead the race to his signing.

Personally, I think one striker unquestionable to improve the Gunners’ attack would be Lacazette . His pace, clever movement, brilliant technique and better-quality finishing would make him the perfect foil for Ozil’s vision in the final third.
