Manchester United and England international forward Wayne Rooney has completed a move to former club Everton for a undisclosed fee after 13-year at Old Trafford.

It was reported on the Toffees official website that the 31-year old star has signed a two-year deal.

The veteran fell down the pecking order in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven last season, making just 25 league appearances.

During Rooney spell at Old Trafford, he made a total of 559 appearances, finding the back of the net 253 times.

The versatile star capable of playing in the attack, midfield and in the flanks. He also won five premier League titles, FA Cup and one each of the Champions League and Europa League.

Speaking concerning his return to boyhood club, Rooney reveals his first game for the Toffees will be an emotional one, but insisted he can’t wait to get on the pitch.

“It’s a great feeling to be back. I cannot wait to meet the lads, get on the training pitch and then get on the pitch to play,” he added.

“I’m not just coming back because it’s the team I support, the team I grew up playing for – I’m coming back because I feel the club can move forward and be successful,”

The England skipper left Everton for United in 2004 in a £27m deal.

During his first spell with the Merseyside club, the 31-year old forward scored 17 goals in 77 appearances.

However, Everton has confirmed that Rooney will wear the number 10 shirt previously worn by Lukaku – who move in the opposite direction for £75million

“I want to be part of it. There will be pressure on me to perform, but I’m ready to go. Rooney added.

“I believe I can help move this club forward and be more successful on the pitch”.
