Forget Ozil – Source confirms Arsenal want to sign ace ahead of Barca

Arsenal bid to sign highly-rated midfielder Jean-Michael Seri in under threat as they will have to fend off competitions from London rival Tottenham and Spanish giants Barcelona who have also shown interest in the Nice star player, according to Daily Star.

Arsenal midfield was in disarray last season with Santi Carzola getting injured for a major part of the season while Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil were far from being consistent as Arsenal failed to qualify
for the Champions League next season.

Arsene-Wenger

In the light of that, a major overhaul of the team is expected this summer whether or not Arsene Wenger continues as Arsenal manager, though it is believed the French boss will continue in that capacity
next season.

The 25-year-old is reportedly a target for Wenger and he is ready to trigger the £35 million release clause in his contract which is only 12 months away from expiring.

Reports from the Guardian earlier this month have it that Arsenal have held talks with Seri’s agent but the Daily Star is now claiming that Barcelona could stand in their way as the La Liga runner-up have also
met with the Ivory Coast international representatives and are reported to be in the driving seat to sign him.

The box-to-box midfielder was impressive for Nice last season as he scored seven goals and assisted another nine to help them claimed a third-place finish.

And with reports claiming that Mesut Ozil has failed to signed a new deal at Arsenal, Seri could be a perfect replacement for him.
